Driving licence vs passport photo — what's the difference?
For UK applications, there is no meaningful difference. DVLA uses the same 35×45mm dimension, plain light grey or cream background, neutral expression, no glasses, and recent-photo rules as HMPO does for passport photos. One compliant photo covers both.
The main practical difference is the submission method: passport online applications use an IDPC (Digital Photo Check) code; DVLA's online service accepts a direct JPEG file upload.
